YUBA CITY, CA β Last week, Congressman Mike Thompson visited with local leaders, members of the small business community, and the Yuba City Downtown Business Association to learn more about pressing issues facing small business owners. Thompson met with a group of 15 leaders at Sopa Thai on Plumas Street.
βThe small businesses on Plumas Street are a big part of what makes Yuba City special. I was glad to meet with so many of our local small business owners to hear about their successes and the struggles they face and to discuss what actions I can take in Congress to help ensure that our fantastic local businesses can grow and create more jobs here in our district.β said Congressman Mike Thompson.
During the meeting, business owners discussed how the federal government can support small businesses, address the rising cost of housing, and the need to protect Social Security and Medicare. As the Ranking Member of the Ways and Means Tax Subcommittee, Rep. Thompson will continue to work to enact policies and tax incentives that promote economic growth and strengthen our local economy.
Congressman Thompson is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, which has jurisdiction over health care, tax, trade, Social Security and income security issues. Congressman Thompson is the Ranking Member of the Tax Subcommittee and a senior member of the Health Subcommittee.
