Thompson, Garamendi Announce Award of $1,000,000 for Contra Costa Transition Aged Youth Program

Martinez – Today, Reps. Mike Thompson (CA-04) and John Garamendi (CA-08) announced that Contra Costa County’s Transition Aged Youth Diversion Program is receiving the $1,000,000 that the representatives secured as a Community Project Funding request.

“Reducing crime in our communities requires an all-of-the-above approach, and investing in programs like the Transition Aged Youth Diversion Program will help move away from punitive measures and focus on prevention and accountability,” said Thompson. “Proud to have secured this funding with Rep. Garamendi for Contra Costa County to help better serve young people and reduce crime rates.”

“It is imperative that our communities receive the necessary resources to uphold their safety and security through programs like the Contra Costa County’s Transition Aged Youth Diversion Program,” said Garamendi. “I am pleased to have secured this funding with Rep. Thompson to support young adults in Contra Costa County.”

The funding awarded to the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office is from the Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs. Reps. Thompson and Garamendi worked to secure this funding as part of the Fiscal Year 2023 government funding bill.
