Lincoln, CA – On Saturday, March 14th, Congressman Mike Thompson hosted a community coffee to hear from constituents in California’s newly formed Fourth Congressional District. Congressman Thompson heard from constituents about the threats facing our democracy, the rising cost of living in Placer County, and this administration’s unconstitutional war in Iran. As part of Congressman Thompson’s commitment to hearing from his constituents, he has already hosted five community meetings this year and in 2025 hosted over 20 community meetings. Congressman Thompson will also be meeting with members of the Lincoln Democratic Club this week.
“I heard from nearly every person attending my community coffee that our country is facing unprecedented threats and we need battle-tested leaders who are holding this president and his administration accountable,” said Rep. Mike Thompson. “We are seeing skyrocketing gas and grocery prices thanks to this administration's reckless policies and a Republican-controlled Congress that is refusing to put the American people ahead of their own interests. Congressman Thompson is running in his newly redrawn Fourth Congressional District which contains parts or all of Colusa, Lake, Napa, Placer, Sacramento, Sonoma, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba Counties.
In a strong show of grassroots support, 173 volunteers in all nine counties of California’s Fourth Congressional District collected 3,318 signatures—nearly double the number required—to place Congressman Thompson on the ballot.
Congressman Thompson is a member of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. The committee is responsible for crafting our tax laws, oversees our national trade policy, and has jurisdiction over major social safety net programs, including Social Security and Medicare, which provide essential benefits to millions.
Congressman Thompson is proud to have earned a broad coalition of grassroots support from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Sierra Club, California Young Democrats, SEIU California, firefighters, nurses, teachers, veterans, farm bureaus, local Chamber of Commerce PACs, federal and state leaders, and more than 230 local elected officials, business, non-profit, tribal and community leaders from across our district.
