Washington – Today, Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-04) released the following statement after voting against H.R. 7217, the House Republicans’ cynical effort to undermine the possibility of a comprehensive, bipartisan funding package that takes on our national security challenges in the Middle East, Ukraine, Taiwan, and throughout the world.
“Throughout my time in Congress, I have been a strong supporter of Israel, and I believe that we must continue to support our strongest ally in the Middle East. Unfortunately, House Republicans have decided to play political games with aid for our allies. This bill falls tragically short as it leaves out essential humanitarian aid for Gaza, support for Ukraine against Putin’s tyranny, and important aid for Taiwan. Our national security deserves more than House Republicans’ cynical political stunt.”
