Thompson Votes to Advance Legislation to Expand Retirement Savings and Revamp IRS Bills reported out of House Committee on Ways and Means
Washington – Today House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures Chairman Mike Thompson (CA-05) voted to advance several, bipartisan proposals out of the full Ways and Means Committee. Most notably, Thompson voted to advance the SECURE Act, legislation to expand retirement savings opportunities, and the Taxpayer First Act, a bill to modernize the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) so it better serves taxpayers. Thompson and Huffman Announce Extension of Direct Housing Assistance for 2017 Fire Survivors Extension granted to those seeking aid with housing after October fires
Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Rep Jared Huffman (CA-02) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has granted an extension for the Direct Temporary Housing Program which provides affordable housing for home owners and renters who had their homes destroyed in the October 2017 fires. Thompson and Huffman wrote to FEMA asking for an extension earlier this month.

Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced that he is now accepting applications for the 2019 Fifth Congressional District Art Competition, open to high school students. This annual competition showcases the artistic talents and ability of students in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories. All winning pieces are displayed in the United States Capitol.

Thompson Calls on Local Korean War Veterans to Come Forward to Receive Medal from South Korean Government Award commemorates sacrifice of service members in Korean War
Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) announced plans to help Korean War veterans in Napa and Lake Counties receive a medal for their service and encouraged those former service members to contact his office. Thompson is again working with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea to facilitate presentation of the Ambassador for Peace Medal, an honor given by the South Korean government to American veterans in recognition of their service.
